What do you notice about the average person nowadays?
If you were to look at your phone, social media would show the “perfect” life people have.
You may wish you had what they do, but you only see the curated version of them.
Depression, poor body image, anxiety, and lack of motivation are rampant behind the scenes in our society.
These all affect your health and diminish your potential.
Whether it is social media, tv, or obligations, you are giving away your time and energy to these distractions that are demanding your attention.
Look at your routine and think about what distracts you the most.
Have you ever contemplated how much you tend to yourself? Take a moment to review how much time you focus on your physical and mental well-being.
“A Physical and Mental Health Routine is Pivotal”
There are 2 things you can add to your daily routine that will improve your health and motivation.
You may think these are obvious, but exercise and mental health routines are essential!
I am giving you 2 Free Templates in this Post! It will include a Workout Template and Journaling Template! All you need is to sign up and I will personally send them over!
“The Backstory”
My name is Kyler Stocks and I spent the past 6 years studying physical and mental health. My goal is to help you become your best self by sharing my journey of personal growth.
6 years ago I was a senior in high school wanting to push my physical ability to the limit.
I saw myself on track to go to the NFL but unfortunately, the Panthers drafted Christian McCaffrey and not me.
I pivoted to learning how these freak athletes pushed their bodies and minds.
Before going to college to study physical and mental health, I volunteered at local gyms to learn as much as possible.
It was at ECU that I dived into the human body and mind to learn how you could become the best version of yourself.
Unfortunately, the human brain and body are a lot more complicated than one would think.
I did not prepare for the amount of dedication it takes to graduate.
It was no surprise when partying and events took precedence over studies.
I had started down the slippery slope of procrastination and full-blown disregard for my education.
A vicious cycle of blaming others, destructive tendencies, and poor decisions took over.
Fast forward to the start of my sophomore year and I was in the hole.
A 1.52 GPA was staring back at me and a host of classes I would have to retake.
My ignorance had pulled me into the trap of short-term enjoyment and blinded me from how it was setting me up to fail.
I was in a dark place when I asked myself if I would allow these short-term decisions to define who I was.
It was there I decided to make a change.
From that day I dived into my studies, learning all I could about the body and mind.
The first lesson I learned was that we have to get into a routine to inhibit change.
I found that exercise was a simple enough task to start my day and kick off my routine.
“Exercise Routine”
Exercise is essential for our all-around health.
It releases endorphins when our heart rate raises from strength or aerobic training.
Endorphins are a type of neurotransmitter that has a positive effect on our physical and mental health.
It boosts feelings of happiness, relaxation, and even euphoria.
This means that exercise can help to improve our sense of well-being, reduce stress, and improve our mood.
It also helps to boost our energy levels, improve our mental clarity, and strengthen our immune system.
By studying exercise throughout the years I have refined my workout programs to fit a healthy lifestyle.

Now putting a workout regiment into your schedule may seem impossible but if you want to grow you have to include this.
To help kickstart your progress you can grab a piece of paper and follow along:
Write out 6 am to 11 pm on a sheet of paper.
Write out your normal day, including waking up, eating, sleeping, school, work, or whatever else you do on a daily basis.
Box tasks that cannot move from their designated time slot.
Take a second and look at the space you have that is not boxed.
These are the gaps in your day you can fill with your new routines and habits.
Start with finding a 45 min-1.5 hour slot for your workout.
This will be your starting template when you plan your days out.
Once you get used to writing out your days you’ll realize you have more time than you thought.
To continue your trend of becoming your best self you have to increase your awareness.
“Your Personal Growth Journal”
I will be giving you a tool I have created called a Growth Journal, something that grows with you.
It will be your guide to improving your physical and mental health.
“Improving Your Mental State”
My mental state improved with exercise but I was still disorganized and unfocused.
The same distractions continued to pull me from the upward trend of my life and kept me stagnant.
My studies showed that journaling can help review your mental state and what your attention is focusing on.
I put on paper how I felt and what my thoughts were focusing on in the morning and night.
At first, it was unorganized but it did the job of showing me what was working and what wasn't in my life.
In my YouTube video, I went over exactly how I journal and frame my writing, Here is the basic template I use.

“A New View of Yourself”
You want to expand your awareness and learn to analyze what is going on in a deeper more meaningful way.
Journaling will not solve your problems.
It will bring your problems to the surface and will open your eyes to what you are focusing your attention on.
You will continue to face whatever is going on but you do not want to suppress these things.
Once you are able to see what is going on, you can reflect and choose how you will move forward.
Whether it is a single emotion to an event or something impacting your life, you will now have the power to choose what you do moving forward.
This is important in today’s world because you are being bombarded by all these thoughts and emotions 24/7.
You need to learn what and how to respond to these different stimuli.
Only increased awareness will allow you to see what you are taking in and giving out.
Once you can focus on these aspects, you can critique them for your personal benefit.
These little efforts over time become a routine and balanced my mental state by forcing me to acknowledge why I do the things I do.
“Reviewing What You Learned”
Now, these tools (Journaling, Timeboxing, and Exercising) were improving my life significantly.
With these tools, I made better decisions and focused my attention on what made me happy.
Now that I had increased my awareness I had to apply what I was learning about myself.
It was time to review the distractions that were affecting me.
I’m sure you have heard the phrase, “You are who you hang out with.”
This is a statement that will make you consider the influences you have in your life.
The people you are around the most imprint their thoughts and emotions onto you.
They are experiencing life like you but may not want to focus on the same things you are.
These different philosophies can affect you if you aren't careful.
Now the worst thing you could do is tell yourself you need to get rid of all your friends.
Acknowledge that each person you interact with is on their own journey and does not have your best interests in mind.
Focus on seeing which people make you a better person and lift you up instead of pushing you down.
To be able to see this from another perspective, incorporate time outside of your immediate friend group.
Try things on your own and see what happens.
You may learn more about yourself and figure out who means the most to you.
This independent time will lead to the realization of what matters the most to you and how you feel about people or aspects of your life.
From here look to incorporate people who share that same mindset and build you up.
One thing that helped me a ton was finding groups that were interested in the same topics and lifestyles as me.
These new interactions will build relationships and challenge your thought processes.
Taking the time to explore new avenues of your thought process and the people around you can be scary, but it will be the one thing that reshapes your entire life.
